Power Point in the Classroom

Power Point as a Multimedia Tool in the ESL and Foreign Language Classrooms:

 To improve listening skills.
 To provide speech feedback in the target language.
 To combine visual and listening tools.
 To encourage students’ involvement in oral activities.
 To increase motivation in language learning.

Power Point for Instruction:

• Student-created projects to synthesize and evaluate content
• Interactive hypermedia stories
• Review hypermedia games
• Concept reviews

Let’s Turn a Simple Slideshow into Multimedia:

To record your voice into PowerPoint:

1. Open your PowerPoint presentation (Do not select the Slide Show option)
2. Select the slide you want to insert voice into.
3. Launch Sound Recorder by going to
Insert
Movies and Sounds
Record Sound
4. Have fun!

To add sound/movie clip into PowerPoint:

1. Repeat steps 1 & 2
2. Go to Insert Movies and Sounds
3. Select the source of your movie/sound file (file or clip organizer)
4. Select the file you want to insert
5. Click OK
